Kevin Bauman began capturing abandoned homes in Detroit in the mid '90s, and the project took on a life of its own with a documentary-style thrust somewhere along the way, evolving into 100 Abandoned Houses. In his project statement, Kevin talks of Detroit's 12,000 abandoned homes and the population decline from over 2,000,000 to a number nearer 800,000 today. Something about the way he sort of 'catalogs' these houses just really grabs my attention, so I couldn't pass this one up!
Oh, and $10 from the sale of every single image goes to charity, including Habitat for Humanity and Greening Detroit. I can't help but like this guy!
