Pick out my Halloween costume for me!!! Please?

October 25, 2009

Alright everybody – Halloween is in less than a week, and I don’t even have an inkling of an idea! This is nothing short of tragic, and I need your help to choose an epic costume idea. I’m desperate, and you’re all ridiculously creative, so I have high hopes!

Here’s the criteria:

  • Cheap
  • Easy to put together on short-notice
  • Not a ‘slutty’ anything – gotta keep it classy!
  • Original or perfectly classic

Okay, so now you’re up – I’m taking any and all suggestions, and I’ll post pictures of whatever I end up going with! Thanks, everybody!!!

  1. Oooo…I like Cindy’s Mod Stewardess idea too — vintage SWAirlines style: hot pants, fishnets, go go boots. Very groovy;D Google “vintage sw airlines stewardess photo” – you’ll get plenty of great pix to go by.

  2. I agree with Teddy Started It. Audrey Hepburn from Sabrina, How to Steal a Million, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Love in The Afternoon, any of those would be classy, and simple. Not sure how original those would be though. I’m sure plenty of people have done that before. Something that I’m sure would be pretty original would be going as Barbara Good or Margo leadbetter from my favorite brit com, The Good life(known as Good Neighbors in the states). The costumes would be pretty simple 70’s outfits. If I celebrated halloween, Then I would probably be Barbara Good.

  3. Lucille Ball in from “Lucy’s Italian Movie”

Most things are already in your closet! Or you can borrow from a friend!

    you need
    -A full skirt
-an off the shoulder pheasant blouse
    – a red bandanna
-a black wide belt to be cinched around waist

Simply do your makeup Lucy Style, pull the back hem of your skirt up through your legs and tuck into your belt (or pin) and stand in a bucket of triple strength purple kool aid for ten minutes to dye you feet and you are set!

    Have fun!

  4. My 4 year old came up with this for himself but I thought it was really cute. He is going as a Mummy Chef! Pot, spoon, we already have gauze for the mummy part and we already own a chef hat and apron. Just a thought how many Mummy chefs are there in the world?

My other son is going to be Ghost Santa..poor santa just did not make it down a chimney one year. Since you are female you could be dead Mrs. Claus lol

  5. What about a mod stewardess? I’m sure you already own a poly dress, scarf and go-go boots. You could even use one of your ultra fabulous train cases as a purse! Simple, cheap… and groovalicious. ;)

  6. I waited to the last minute one year and came up with a super easy and cheap one.

A scare-crow. All you need is either overalls or baggy jeans and a plaid shirt. Tie a rope around your waist for a belt. Put on a floppy hat…paint your face with a triangle nose…I even stuffed hay out of the cuffs of my shirt. It was cute, very cheap, and I did it with stuff I already had in about 10 minutes.

  7. Well, you’re sporting a pretty good Flapper look in the picture accompanying this post – although some Marcel waves would really complete the ensemble. But assuming that was last year’s costume and you don’t want to repeat it, what about Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina – the black on black w/those cute little black flats. Somehow I think you could pull that off.
