How to Make Jalapeño-Infused Vodka

Homemade Spicy Bloody Mary Recipe

One of the secrets to a truly spicy bloody Mary cocktail is in the vodka. You can infuse vodka with so many different flavors, but I love jalapeños for mine. Other popular infused vodkas for bloody Marys include bacon, black pepper, or pickle.

Here’s how I make my

Ingredients

  • Vodka
  • 1-3 fresh jalapeño peppers

Instructions

1. Pour vodka into a jar or pitcher with a lid.

2. Thinly slice jalapeños, discarding the seeds.

3. Add jalapeño pepper slices to the jar, and put the lid on.

4. Leave the jar in a cool, dark place, like a cupboard, to infuse.

5. Give it a quick shake every couple hours, tasting a spoonful periodically.

6. When it’s as spicy as you want, scoop out the peppers.

Do you want a really spicy vodka? Use more jalapeños, and leave the mixture to infuse for longer. Less spicy? Use fewer peppers and less infusion time. I used two peppers and infused for about 12 hours for mine.

You can store the vodka just like you would with the unflavored stuff. Either keep it in a sealed jar, or pour it back into the vodka bottle.

The Best Bloody Mary Garnish and Toppings

Are you wondering what goes well with bloody Marys?

One of the best things about this brunch cocktail is that you can basically turn into into a whole meal…

Some people will just stick a celery stalk or a couple olives into theirs and call it a day. I, my friends, am not that person.

Here are some of the best bloody Mary garnish and topping ideas:

  • Celery stalks with leaves
  • Lime wedges
  • Lemon wedges
  • Stuffed green olives (garlic and blue cheese are great options)
  • Cheese cubes
  • Grape or cherry tomatoes
  • Mini cornichon pickles
  • Pickled okra
  • Pickled green beans
  • Dill pickle spear
  • Cocktail onions
  • Basil
  • Radishes
  • Croutons
  • Non-vegetarian options
    • Bacon
    • Shrimp

How fun would it be to set up a bloody Mary bar at your brunch? Just put out little dishes and jars of these toppings. Provide toothpicks and trimmed skewers.

Don’t forget a dish of lime juice to dip glass rims and then little dishes of chili lime seasoning, celery salt, etc., to rim the glasses!
