Our Engagement Story Part 1 . My Wedding

I've had a few people remind me that I haven't shared our engagement story yet. I've decided to torture you guys by dragging it out over a few installments. Why? Partly because I took far too many pictures to share at once, and partly because I want to make sure I tell it with all the right words. It was a series of moments that still gives me butterflies and brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. Though I know these images won't have that same depth for any of you, I do hope that they convey everything from our story just right.

For now, for this first part, I just want to show you the place that now means the world to me. It's a tiny, perfectly kitschy little cabin in a Tennessee town not much larger than the dwelling itself. It was all trees, thick carpets of moss, the smell of bonfire, and the sounds of crickets at night and birds in the morning.

There wasn't cell reception for ages out in any direction, which was wonderful and torturous at the same time. We had a whole weekend that was only ours - no email, no texting, no blog, but then... I couldn't call anyone to tell them! The first person I told was the owner of an adorable little antiques and sundries shop in town, and even then only because I blurted it out like an idiot. I just couldn't contain that sort of news for a single moment longer! She asked us what we were doing in town, and I stuck my ring in her face and said, "We just got engaged last night!" before I even realized I'd made a move. BAM - I turned into that girl... But just for a second. Honest. ;D

Okay, that's it for now, but I promise I'll share more soon!

*All photos were taken by me for Shrimp Salad Circus.

  1. That's so cute! Such great pictures! If I had just gotten engaged, I would want to blurt it out too! I would probably want to scream it from rooftops, so I'd say you kept your cool quite well!

  7. That first photo is SUPER pretty. You're lucky you have such breathtaking images to remember it by, I just have a couple of blurry indoor shots and I'm really sad I don't have something more tangible.
