Shrimp Salad Circus Printable - Sacrifice

Free Printable - Let us Sacrifice Our Today So That Our Children Can Have a Better Tomorrow (Quotes About Sacrifice)

Today I’m partnering with La Brea Bakery to talk about something really close to my heart. I’ll share my personal story next week, but for now I’ll just say that I grew up in a Navy family with an empty seat at the table for a lot of holidays. It’s hard to miss someone you love during the holidays. I can’t even imagine how much harder it is for the person you’re missing who’s spending that occasion without any of their loved ones, sacrificing so that others don’t have to.

Tell me: Who in your life has sacrificed — missing holidays, birthdays, or other milestones so that others didn’t have to?

Before we get to the big contest, I wanted to create a little something special that everyone could enjoy. When searching for quotes about sacrifice, I thought these words by Abdul Kalam were so absolutely true of so many parents: “Let us sacrifice our today so that our children can have a better tomorrow.”

Just click the button below to download a hi-res PDF that you can print on standard letter-size paper. You can cut it down to 8″x10″ to frame it, or you can tack it to the wall as-is.

I love to see what you do with my printables, so share your pictures of it hung up over on Instagram with #shrimpsaladcircus and #shrimpsaladscribbles!

How to Enter the Thanksgiving Heroes Contest

La Brea Bakery, the leading artisan bread supplier in the U.S., is hosting a Thanksgiving contest. They’re asking people to nominate their Thanksgiving Hero: people they know and love who regularly work on Thanksgiving serving others, like military servicemen and women, firefighters and police, etc. La Brea Bakery will deliver fully catered meals to five finalists across the nation on Thanksgiving.

To nominate your own hero, click the “Thanksgiving Heroes” tab and fill in your contact information. Then, in 100 words or less, tell everyone about the loved one who won’t be at the table for Thanksgiving this year, and share a photograph of you together. Submissions must be received by November 15th 2015. Finalists will be announced November 17th 2015, after which the public will have a chance to vote for their favorites through November 20th 2015.

  1. Such a gorgeous printable (and styled shot)! And what an awesome contest – a great way to honor our heros!

  2. Awww this is such a wonderful idea. Thanksgiving was one of the hardest holidays when my husband was deployed. But it definitely made me grateful for the ones we have together!
