This is an incredibly lazy How To-sday. It’s not actually a tutorial at all. I’m way busier than I still expected to be, and the terrible rain has been interfering with my photographizing. Instead, I want to share one of my favorite new web tools with you guys. I have recently developed an obsession with gardening, but I’m light years away from boasting a green thumb. Cue Sprout Robot, originally found via Liz of Cosa Verde on Modish.
All you have to do is tell Sprout Robot your zip code and whether you want to plant in containers, raised beds, or straight into the ground. It then gives you a list of fruits, veggies, and herbs suitable for your climate and planting choice. For the paid version, it’ll send you seeds as well, but I opted for the freebie type.
It sends me emails when it’s time to plant something, and then I just ‘check in’ to tell it when something has sprouted. It then sends me the next step – transplanting, thinning, etc., all with cute little hand-scrawled instructions, like the one above for my radishes. Does it work? Heck yes – I have two-inch tall radish-babies on my porch right now!!!
Go give it a try, and let me know what you’re going to plant! We can swap stories about our cute little seedlings and how “they just grow up so fast!” Yeah, I’m a total geek, but I’m far worse about my cats – promise…
